Oh, look! Another hedgehog cactus in full bloom 🥰👍🏻 Earlier on this week, one of the hedgehog cacti I have got in the terrace decided to blossom overnight without telling anyone 😉😜 Lucky enough, I got the chance to take a couple of snap shots in the early morning, before it would call the day, and, my goodness, what a real beauty! Love the perfect blend of green from its body and the intense white colour of the flower itself with the pale yellow of its pistils along with the odd patches of violet in some of the corners from the petals themselves. Almost perfection, and, indeed, what a real beauty! 😍👍🏻

Had a great day of hiking in the White Mountains, NH yesterday! Climbed up a steep ravine (upper left), then hiked along the ridge to a high point (jagged peaks in upper right) before looping back down. Winds (and freezing wind chill) were as advertised— clocked at average of 45 mph (72 km/h) at closest summit. Wore lots of layers and full wind suit and was just fine. Taken last winter. A view from the shore over a frozen bay on Lake Michigan. On the left a wharf heads out into the bay. In the distance there is a white lighthouse. If the foreground is yellow dune grass blowing in the wind. Roiling clouds of blue and white are overhead. It is very cold and windy.

Stumbled upon an amazing little creature today at Paxton Pits. I have never seen one in my life before. When I saw it, I thought it was a mouse based on its small size (about 20cm). But this is a Least Weasel (or just Weasel in the UK). Its our smallest carnivore.
