So many chores on our list today.
We cleaned up the lawn mower after yesterday's marathon mowing adventure.
Breaking down cardboard was up next.
Summer says this is good news. She is embarrassed by the stack of boxes when the deck workers are here.
What she really means is that she loves tearing up cardboard because that is the only time she is allowed to tear up anything.

I will drop the boxes off when I pick up mail.

Summer was so excited at the prospect of a beach adventure.
We were awake at the crack of dawn.
Her pal was bundled up in his recliner with some hot chocolate and a movie. We promised to make it a quick trip.
The fog was so dense we couldn't see very far but it was burning off fast.
I jogged along with her to keep up the pace.
Getting back home was top of mind.
The beach was right where we left it.
So was her pal when we got back back home.
The perfect day for an adventure.

We decided to try and reclaim the blueberries from the grass, brambles, and weeds. I made it down the row about three of the twenty blueberry plants! I was covered in dirt, filled with ancient dry thorn tips, and happy for my cool shower. I'll give it another go next weekend, maybe.

Over the past few days, a few crickets have made their way into the house.
Whenever I can, I guide them back outside so they don't land on us during the night.

This morning, I was mowing the lawn a bit - not much, just as much as needed, before the rain - and there were plenty of them in the garden.
A neighbour, as often happens, suggested I cut it shorter "to drive the crickets away". I looked around: all my neighbours' lawns are kept extremely short, and the surrounding countryside is completely plowed.

"And where are the poor crickets supposed to go?"
"They'll find somewhere else."

I put the lawnmower away and decided that, in my garden, they are more than welcome.

We are together at home again.
Took care of bathing Summer's pal and putting everything that was at the hospital into the laundry. He is happy to be here.
After we got that far we all felt exhausted.
Summer and her pal napped on the bed and I fell asleep in my bean bag.
We decided on easy rice and vegetable bowls for dinner.
Tomorrow will bring a meeting with Stanford and hopefully a plan.
I need to get to baking goodies and pack a few more pounds on my husband before his future surgery.
He says cookies would help.

Golden lab is sitting in a car waiting for her pal to get wheeled out of the hospital. Very excited.

Summer was anxious to get through breakfast and exercise this morning.
We want to be ready when the call comes to bring her pal home from the hospital.
I was able to make early phone calls and take care of other business like paying to get my car out of the shop so it can be retrieved by the grandkids later.
I told Summer to save some energy because we will have our hands full. She says she is not worried and will be energeticly reporting for care giver duty. I promised to bring her along for the trip to pick up her pal. She is getting a quick nap in while I dust off his walker and get everything else in order.
This is a positive development.

Summer and I scooted off to bed right after the Detroit Tigers game last night. It was a little early but we were worn out. I thought this maneuver would mean we got a good sleep.
Clearly, I didn't think it through. At four am Summer decided she had to go outside. I told her it was dark but it didn't matter so out we went. I crawled back in bed and Summer cuddled up to me for one more hour.
The gentle paw on my arm right before the face licking happened at five. She said that we were burning daylight.
There is fun to be had outside!
I would have taken her to the beach but we have deck builders showing up early today and we need to be here at home.
She is incredibly sweet and totally irresistible.
If I have to be awake at least I have good company.
Keeping her pal's recliner warm until he comes home, maybe tomorrow, will keep her occupied for now.
