    Carrion crow.

    Birds don't sweat, so they need to pant in order to cool down. Which is what this crow was doing at the start of this current heatwave, at 8am one morning. It must be pretty unpleasant for them right now, given how hot it is today.

          While at the Island Mere hide a Reed Warbler was hunting for Damselfly’s and taking them back into the same spot in the reeds.

          We assume it’s for a nest, it was amazing to watch and was totally unbothered by us. I hope the photos do it justice.

            I wanted to share this image after reading a pleasant article about creating natural gardens with native plants instead of imported species - made me think of how important that choice is to little critters like this guy.

                    Every time I see a groundhog (aka woodchuck) I'm unable to take pics b/c I'm either on my bike on the way someway or w/o my camera.

                    Was on the bike yesterday but had my camera so I decided to stop and end the vicious cycle, 😉.

                                I am posting a lot of bird photos at the moment because parents are busy raising their young and that is perfect for bird photography.

                                But I can't wait for the salmon return in a few weeks because that's when I get my bear photos. And you know how much I love bears!

                                    Although it is Caturday, I don’t have a cat. But I did encounter this turtle laying eggs next to the launch site when I went canoeing earlier this week. The turtle continued to do her business while I prepared the canoe for the water. When I returned from canoeing, the turtle was gone and the hole was covered back up with dirt. Saw a few other similar holes nearby, so this must be a regular site for laying eggs.#wildlife

                                      Back from a wild solo trip to Denali National Park and Preserve Crazy weather all 4 days, from 80º hot to torrential rain at times and lightning strike caused wildfires that brought in smoke. Plus this guy only 50 yards off the road as I biked through Igloo Canyon. It was a fun trip! Lots more pictures tomorrow.

                                              While common, the Woodland Duck is still one of the coolest patterns in duck feathers I know of. Such a variety in colours mixed with the brilliant white striping. Love them.

                                                          I have been at that location a few times recently and I suspect they have a nest in that very large bush full of berries.
