                28 hours is a long time away from home for a couch potato like me, but I brought a warm sleeping bag, a gas camping stove, instant coffee, and my fellow nerds supplied plenty of good company.
                My social batteries got thoroughly drained, so this weekend I'm just going to putter about the house, read a book, and not talk to anyone :D

                Diacrisia sannio Rødfrynset Bjørn Clouded buff A lovely yellow moth with red fringes, a red median spot on its wings, and reddish thighs. It has benefitted massively from the cattle and goats opening up the dark woods and grazing the edges of the bog.

                        There is something profoundly beautiful about the confusion effect created by a 'dazzle' of zebras. 🦓
                        Each unique stripe pattern works collectively as camouflage against predators. In this composition, I loved how one young individual broke the herd’s abstract pattern by looking right back at me, a powerful connection in the chaos.

                                Heads Down on the River Lee

                                Two swans were feeding at the edge of the Lee Fields when I stopped. Both had their necks down in the shallows, working the seeds and crumbs in the same posture a second or two apart. It was exceptionally bright so I exposed for the highlights and everything else...

                                    Golden hour at The Ark Lodge, Aberdare National Park, Kenya. This herd let us observe remarkably close, close enough to see how close they were to each other. No tension, just a family at the waterhole in the last warm light of the day. One of those moments where photographing it felt secondary to just being there.

                                                      2/2 Snake [SENSITIVE CONTENT]

                                                      This bull snake was lying on a boulder exactly where I wanted to be. Shortly after I got to that spot, it began to slowly slither in my direction. It didn’t seem to be at all affected by my presence— it just wanted to go in my direction. I don’t know whether to be relieved or insulted! 🤣 After I backed up about 20 feet, there was space for me to get back to the original spot to take to pic of the creek. An interesting way to begin my visit here!
