On closer inspection, it looks like a camper van may be parked right behind the fence and gate.

                        I used to travel a lot on business back then, and Frankfurt am Main (#FFM) was often my base for various meetings. In the evenings, I’d wander around the city and try to unwind after the day’s work. Those were silly times, and when I look back on them now, there’s a lot I’d have done differently. But I probably wouldn’t be thinking that way today if I’d done it back then.

                                    Pilot Mountain - The Failed 2nd Coming
                                    --

                                    One of my first ever big expeditions with a Camera was, against all good reason, was to climb the 3-4 miles to the top of Pilot Mountain - after working 10 hours that day.

                                    Thursday, I had it in mind to come back to the mountain with fresh eyes and some experience.

                                    Well... ehhh, I also didn't plan the timing of the day very well, as, as you can see, I don't have an actual photo of the mountain.

                                    "Firekeeper, why do you not have pretty picture of Mountain?"

                                    BECAUSE THE SUN WAS BEHIND IT!

                                    Ughh, Charlie Brown. Well, I suppose my next visit to this splendiferous Mountain will be had at 7:00pm rather than 7:00am next round, but nonetheless, I did walk the top and grab shots as I went, and made the most of the morning mist down below, or as much as I could of it.

                                    I took WAY more photos than I thought I did Thursday so these first four will be the first of eight to twelve from that trip. Right now, 8 seems more definite, so here's the first 4 that I've edited thus far.

                                                      When you're really tempted to squish the forbidden belly, but you know you'd probably be flying a little too close to the sun.

                                                          Ein Triebzug der Baureihe 612 in Mehrfachtraktion steht auf einem der äußeren Gleise am Erfurter Hauptbahnhof. Bei mir im Norden fahren diese Neigetechnik-Züge nicht. Also habe ich hier eine seltene Gelegenheit für ein Foto meiner #Angekuppelt -Serie. Der helle Hintergrund lädt ein zu Silhouetten: in Schwarz-weiß, weil das Rot des Zugs sowieso sehr dunkel wäre. Aus mehreren Aufnahmen sticht diese heraus. Neben dem dekorativen Element der Bahnhofshalle wirken die Köpfe der beiden Frauen wie Büsten.

                                                          A multiple-unit train of the 612 series is parked on one of the outer tracks at Erfurt Central Station. These tilting trains don’t run where I live up north. So this is a rare opportunity for a photo for my #Coupled series. The light background lends itself to silhouettes: in black and white, because the red of the train would be too dark anyway. This one stands out from several shots. Next to the decorative element of the station concourse, the heads of the two women look like busts.

Direkt dahinter ist die Glaswand der Bahnhofshalle. Die Frauen sind bis etwa zur Schulter sichtbar. Zwischen ihnen ist ein dekoratives Element der Hallenkonstruktion zu sehen. Daneben wirken sie wie Büsten. Auch der Zug ist fast nur eine Silhouette. Lichtreflexe auf der spiegelnden Oberfläche lassen aber die dreidimensionale Form sichtbar werden.                                                                 Today was a special day. As you can see, there's concrete in these photos. This is "The Jungle" as they say, full of apes, not squirrels, and this Jungle in particular, is downtown Statesville, NC.

                                                                Why Statesville, plaid-clad camera-person?
                                                                Because Statesville is the new location of my cousin's tattoo parlor, that just opened, and I got to photograph it!

                                                                It's called "The Parlor", go on, go there, he's awesome.

                                                                While those photos aren't public, Statesville very much is, so here's some photos I took yesterday of downtown.

                                                                As usual, my goal isn't as much to document where I am like I'm trying to prove it exists to a speculative audience, I just took a few shots while I was there.
