Peanut Heist

I sat and watched this red bellied woodpecker (Melanerpes carolinus) fly back and forth between a bird feeder hanging from my fence and an oak tree in my backyard. While at the bird feeder, he would dig through the bird seed until he found a peanut then fly away. I tried several times to catch him in the act of flying away, most only caught part of him in the frame. This is one of two in which I had him all in the frame
making off with a peanut.

    Steam engine whistle maintenance is probably the most important maintenance task in a railway shop. A steam engine isn't a steam engine without a steam whistle, right?

            They also make the marvelous Halide app.

                      Last weekend, I went looking for this structure. It's a replica of a section of the 'Sweet Track' - a Neolithic walkway in the Avalon Marshes. The original was 2 km long, and built in the spring of 3806 BCE. It's named after the peat cutter who first discovered it, in 1970.

                                      But I can't wait for the salmon return in a few weeks because that's when I get my bear photos. And you know how much I love bears!

The compound leaves above it are a little dry and yellowish, with small thorns on the stems. The background is green, leafy and blurry. These berries have wickedly thorny canes which are easily identified due to their oddly blue waxy color.
