                I’ve just been clicking through lots of photos in my collection again. Lost places, lonely mountains, narrow streets in big cities... I realised that I’m actually always off the beaten track. In that case, I might as well send a photo from home. And here we are now ;-).

                  Purple? I’m a fan, which is a good thing this year because fleabane seems unusually abundant.

                  And then there was the oversized plant that was oval instead of round. It was impossible to miss, but difficult to photograph owing to the breeze.

                      Why is this an 'unexpected result' (todays #PhotoSuggestion)? At the time, I was keen to gain experience with my new camera and was trying out all sorts of things. For example, I’d bought a #macro lens. But I didn’t manage to produce anything particularly spectacular with it. I took this photo with a 300mm telephoto lens. An unexpected lesson.

                              Did you know that the European mole (Talpa europaea) has a toxin in its saliva which paralyses earthworms, their favourite food? The moles may then store the paralysed earthworms in special 'larder' chambers within their burrows, where they are kept alive and fresh until later consumption. These larders have been reported to contain many hundreds of earthworms at a time!

                              When it's time to visit their pantry for a snack, these moles have a clever trick to make sure they don't consume all the unpleasant soil stuck inside the paralysed earthworm's guts... by rolling the earthworm between their powerful front paws, they forceably squeeze the soil out of the worm, making their meal much less gritty!

                                I think this is the day.

                                I’ve longed toyed with the idea of leaving home on foot, hiking the paved trail to Mount Sentinel, and climbing it.

                                It’s a small peak, the hike to it long, but flat. The endeavor as a whole, though, is ambitious. 🤔
