                                                  Τι είναι το Άξιον Εστί;                               

                                                  •                                                1

                                                  Ι. Το ερώτημα τίθεται ως εξής: Τι μας λέει το Άξιον Εστί;  Μας λέει αυτό που είναι. Τι είναι λοιπόν; Πρωτίστως μια ποιητική σύνθεση της δημιουργικής φαντασίας, η οποία «ξέρει να αξιοποιεί τη μνήμη και να στρέφεται κατά το μέλλον» (Ελύτης: Ανοιχτά χαρτιά, σ. 130). Η πιο επικίνδυνη λέξη για ποιητές και μελετητές ποιητών: φαντασία. Η  φαντασία, ως μια φυγή από το πραγματικό, οδηγεί ουκ ολίγους σχολιαστές του Ελύτη να απομακρύνονται από τον νοητικό άξονα του Άξιον εστί και να καταπνίγουν την ερμηνεία σε έναν ακατάσχετο λόγο με προσθαφαιρέσεις ηχηρών λέξεων ή φράσεων χωρίς καμιά νοηματική συνοχή. Η φαντασία όμως «σαν προβολή στο μέλλον και σα γενναία μεταμορφωτική επέμβαση στις συνθήκες ενός παρόντος» (ό.π., σ. 344) μας δίνει τη δυνατότητα να συναντήσουμε μέσα στους σύνθετους ποιητικούς συν(λ)-λογισμοούς του Άξιον Εστί τον άνθρωπο και τον τόπο που δεν καταβάλλεται, ακόμη κι όταν πέπρωται να νικηθεί.

                                                  ΙΙ. Είναι γνωστό πως ο ποιητής χρειάστηκε γύρω στα 14 χρόνια για να γράψει αυτό το magnum opus. Μεταξύ άλλων άντλησε την έμπνευσή του, προς τούτο, από τον πόλεμο του ’40, από τις ευαισθησίες του απέναντι στις φονικές εμφυλιοπολεμικές διαμάχες των Ελλήνων, κατανοώντας τις ως αποτέλεσμα κομματικών μηχανορραφιών και ραδιουργιών ξένων δυνάμεων, καθώς επίσης και από την «νυν και αεί» παρούσα τραγικότητα της δεκαετίας αυτής. Η σκιά ετούτης της τραγικότητας εκδηλώθηκε στη σύγχρονη νεοελληνική ζωή ως η νοτιά των ανθρώπων που «οξείδωσε» τον ποιητή, δηλαδή την ποιητική φωνή και ψυχή ενός ολόκληρου λαού, μέσα στην αισθητή του φθαρτότητα. Ενόσω τούτη η φθαρτότητα μας περισφίγγει ως εμφυλιοπολεμική ζωή, η λύτρωση δεν έρχεται έξω από το ιστορικό σύμπαν αυτού του λαού αλλά από τη Μακρινή του Μητέρα, που είναι το Αμάραντο Ρόδο του:

                                                                    

                                                  «Μακρινή Μητέρα * Ρόδο μου Αμάραντο»

                                                  Ι. Ποια είναι τούτη η Μακρινή Μητέρα; Πρώτα – πρώτα είναι ο ίδιος ο προφήτης – ποιητής, που και με τη σημασία του πνευματικού ηγέτη του λαού του, είναι και δεν είναι παρών μέσα στη ζώσα τραγωδία του τελευταίου, μέσα «στις μύγες της Αγοράς» (Ελύτης, Ποίηση. Ίκαρος 2002, σ. 168). Δεν είναι παρών, γιατί αισθάνεται εξόριστος και μπορεί μόνο να προ-φητεύει:

                                                         «εξόριστε Ποιητή, στον αιώνα σου, λέγε, τι βλέπεις;» (ό.π., σ. 167)

                                                  Ταυτόχρονα είναι παρών, ως πάσχων κι αυτός μαζί με το λαό του, αλλά ωςμη καταβαλλόμενος, μη καταρρέων, γιατί μπορεί να βλέπει: να διαγιγνώσκει τα συμβαίνοντα μέσα στον «αιώνα του» και παράλληλα να τα αναγιγνώσκει. Διαγιγνώσκει, δηλαδή το εν λόγω πάσχειν μέσα στον παρόντα ιστορικό χρόνο, συγκρινόμενο με τον παρελθόντα ιστορικό χρόνο. Αναγιγνώσκει στον τελευταίο τούτο χρόνο τον στοχαστικό Λόγο [=πυθαγόρειο–ηρακλείτειο], που με τον τρόπο της ποίησης ποιεί ορατή, ενσαρκώνει ως υπαρκτή, ζωντανή σωματικότητα τη Μακρινή Μητέρα, εν ταυτώ γήινη και ουράνια ή θεία: θνητή και αθάνατη [=αμάραντο Ρόδο].

                                                   ΙΙ. Το Άξιον Εστί διαιρείται σε τρία μέρη με ισάριθμους συμβολισμούς. Πρώτο μέρος: Γένεσις. Ο ποιητής παρουσιάζεται εδώ, μέσα από ποικίλα σύμβολα, να εισέρχεται στη ζωή ως άτομο και ως γένος των ποιητών και όσο ανδρώνεται, να βρίσκεται έναντι, κατέναντι σε κινδύνους του κόσμου τούτου. Αλλά και ο κόσμος, με τη σημασία που έχει για τον καθένα, για την αισθητή του πραγματικότητα, αλλά και για τη συμπαντική ανθρωπότητα,έρχεται σε γένεση:

                                                  «ΑΥΤΟΣ ο κόσμος ο μικρός, ο μέγας».

                                                  Ο μικρός κόσμος, η Ελλάδα, και ο μέγας, το σύμπαν. Ο ίδιος ο ποιητής μέσα σε τούτο τον κόσμο έχει ως αφετηρία ζωής την αθωότητα, αλλά στην πορεία αυτής της ζωής μαθαίνει και τι σημαίνει κακό. Ως ποιητής ΑΥΤΟΥ του κόσμου είναι ο Δημιουργός – Λόγος, που εκτυλίσσεται ως Σωκρατικό δαιμόνιο: γνώστης και προ-φήτης, αλλά την ίδια στιγμή και ως εξερευνητής του εαυτού του: εδιζησάμην Εμεωυτόν [=αναζήτησα τον χαμένο μου εαυτό (Ηράκλειτος)].

                                                   ΙΙΙ. Δεύτερο μέρος: Τα Πάθη. Η τραγική εμπειρία του [= εμπειρία ενός ιστορικού λαού] –από τον πόλεμο, την ήττα, την κατοχή, τον εμφύλιο– κατ’ εικόνα προς τα πάθη του Χριστού, απεικονίζεται ρεαλιστικά αλλά με υπερβατικές εξυψώσεις. Τρίτο μέρος: Το Δοξαστικόν. Εξύμνηση, εγκωμιασμός όλων των φαινομένων: άσχημων και ωραίων, αισθητικών και μη. Εδώ παριστάνεται με έναν τρόπο ποιητικής αγαλλίασης όλος ομυθολογικός κόσμος του ποιητή. Εν τέλει το ερώτημα τίθεται τώρα και πάλι:τι είναι το Άξιον Εστί;  Είναι τα τρία μέρη του ποιητικού έργου, τα οποία είναι άξια να υπάρχουν, καθώς και στα λάθη και στα πάθη ευαγγελίζονται πάντοτε την προοπτική ενός καλύτερου κόσμου.

                                                                  So yeah, I ran a poll, but when pulling out paints to use, I chose the colors for the painting that wasn’t on the poll. Far be it from me that I refuse the muses, so I’ve made a start on surreal garden at night, with a nod to Rousseau, without all the everything about him.
                                                                  Anyway, new thing on the easel:

                                                                  Medium size canvas with some oversized plants and geography. Various shades of green have been laid in on the top two thirds of the canvas, while some objects have been outlined and are blank canvas.
