                            It’s currently 42F (5.5C). I have warm loungewear on, my windows open, yet it’s comfortable inside. The expected high is 68F (20C).

                                Not all trails are made just of dirt and rock. Some also involve crossing streams. This is one of our stream crossings from the trip earlier this week. Relatively easy, just took a little thought before taking the stretched-out step over the water between the two boulders-- main concern was that the launch/land points on the two boulders were wet slippery moss on sloping rock surfaces.

                                                                One of four young Green Herons we saw at . Feathered in a mix of downy fledgling and juvenile plumage, they were perched together in a shrub at the edge of the loop road. @CTGT got a couple great shots of several of them together that I’m sure he will post soon.

                                                                    I took some young family members for their first river hike today. Along the way, we spotted this massive snapping turtle sunning itself on a log. We all stopped and stood in awe of its size. The entire hike was a lot of fun, filled with discovery, but I’m afraid that this hike set the “bar” quite high— the children might expect to see this turtle every time now! 😀🐢
