Just watched Have Fun, Good Luck, Don't Die. It was hilarious, but also deeply disturbing, especially the ending. Kind of like a parody of 12 Monkeys, but with a meta-temporal AI instead of a pandemic, and a bit of a Cornetto Trilogy vibe, especially The World's End. Also made me think of Cronenberg's Existenz.

A fun slice of mind-bending entertainment, with a solid ensemble cast. Don't watch it when your grip on reality is tenuous though ...

If you're looking for an out-of-the-box movie to share with older kids, you could do much worse than Ne Zha. Although unless the kids are OK with subtitles, you might want to seek out an English dub.

Imagine a Chinese answer to Moana or Namona. Like a lot of the best Chinese animated features, the story is based in their ancient mythology. I was looking for colourful characters and big, dumb fun, and this movies delivered both in spades.

i’d never seen it on the big screen as I’d only even seen various TV edits. and even though it’s a big rubber shark and i knew what was coming I still jumped at the same scenes i always have. quite amazing.

🎬 Watching ERIN BROKOVITCH and was reminded of SILKWOOD, the 1983 movie, based on a true story, about the activism and suspicious death of Karen Silkwood, a worker in an Oklahoma nuclear plant.

Meryl Streep, Cher and Curt Russell star, with an excellent supporting cast, directed by Mike Nichols.

There's also a queer storyline between Streep's and Cher's characters.

If not for TERMS OF ENDEARMENT's sweep in 1984, SILkWOOD would likely have won a slew of Oscars.

In space, they dock in a large ship with the most boring interior of all time and meet Wak and Neek, two very weird-looking but expertly crafted aliens. Now, you'd think these curious, smart boys meeting beings from another world would be exciting. The sharing of knowledge! The blending of cultures! But instead, we learn Wak and Neek are obsessed with television. Yes, Earth-based television. And so they basically speak only in “television,” which leads to multiple, excruciating scenes of the aliens doing stand-up comedy routines or singing songs as the boys just sit there and watch. We're watching the characters watching the aliens, and it sucks.
