I am posting a lot of bird photos at the moment because parents are busy raising their young and that is perfect for bird photography.
But I can't wait for the salmon return in a few weeks because that's when I get my bear photos. And you know how much I love bears!

by Andy Rouse "I never use flash with hummingbirds - this is a deliberate choice for lots of reasons, but one of them is that it allows me complete creative choice as to the shutter speed. Here the shutter speed was about 1/500 seconds, this is fast enough to get the body sharp, but slow enough to really blur the wings and give some shape. Had I of used a faster shutter speed - say 1/1000th the wings would have looked more frozen in space and a completely different effect achieved." #SilentSunday #Photographie #Photography #Fotografie #Nature #Wildlife #NaturePhotography #WildlifePhotography
Although it is Caturday, I don’t have a cat. But I did encounter this turtle laying eggs next to the launch site when I went canoeing earlier this week. The turtle continued to do her business while I prepared the canoe for the water. When I returned from canoeing, the turtle was gone and the hole was covered back up with dirt. Saw a few other similar holes nearby, so this must be a regular site for laying eggs.#wildlife #nature
Probably not the puffin's best angle but still cute. 🥰

Join me for a unique photo workshop in July. The long days of summer provide plenty of time to go outside and explore the coastal rainforests and shorelines of Vancouver Island where we could see mammals and birds caring for their young.
The workshop is designed for photographers of all skill levels and is limited to 3 guests.

White-crowned sparrow picking berries for their offspring.
I have been at that location a few times recently and I suspect they have a nest in that very large bush full of berries.

A sea otter playing with her pup on Vancouver Island. We rarely see them out of the water. Photo taken during a private photo tour in May.

I took some young family members for their first river hike today. Along the way, we spotted this massive snapping turtle sunning itself on a log. We all stopped and stood in awe of its size. The entire hike was a lot of fun, filled with discovery, but I’m afraid that this hike set the “bar” quite high— the children might expect to see this turtle every time now! 😀🐢 #hiking #nature #wildlife
