If you're viewing a thread in Mastodon, try waiting 5 - 10 seconds to give it time to load in all the replies from all the other servers. When it's done loading it will show a little pop up message "Show more replies" or similar, click on the message to view all replies in the thread.

In the old days it didn't do this and threads looked different on every server, but since Mastodon 4.5.0 it fetches all replies in a thread, so threads now look the same on every server.

Is there any research about the effect of bombs/ordnance on climate change? I wonder about an individual's attempt to be 'green' and how that seems futile if one bomb caused by old men wanting power, wipes out the effort. It does seem that if a bomb (there are plenty of bombs being dropped) can wipe out the individual's effort then we need to go to the source of the trouble and stop them. Yes I know that seems simplistic (I'm not naive) but there has to come a time when the worm turns (the worm being the people suffering under these old men). #Mastodon #Fediverse #climatechange

In short, Fediverse Report says that launching Threads as part of the Fediverse is basically dead in the water. They have decided not to pursue it in 2026, and nobody is actively developing it anymore.

Well, good riddance, I guess. It was fun before it even started. Many of us saw this coming. I would not be surprised if they phase it out completely over the next few years. The Fediverse was never a real priority for them, it was just marketing hype all along. Just like some open source LARPing from the Big Tech corporates.

"Threads’ integration with the fediverse is on maintenance mode, says head of Threads Connor Hayes in an interview by Alex Heath. Hayes said about the fediverse: ““It’s something that we’re supporting, it’s something that we’re maintaining, but it’s not the thing that we’re talking about that’s gonna help the app break out”. In October 2023, Mark Zuckerberg gave an interview with Alex Heath, who asked him about decentralisation and open protocols, with Zuckerberg saying he “always believed in this stuff“. this setting still does not work correctly.... or i am still fundamentally misunderstanding it. despite me triple-checking that many accounts i follow, which are in two of my Lists, which are set to hide members from Home, these accounts' posts still appear in my Home timeline anyway.
