HOLBROOK, Mass. — "Two brothers who work for the Holbrook, Massachusetts, Department of Public Works were arraigned Thursday for allegedly attacking a sleeping homeless man in a town park last month.

"Jesse Baxter, 32, of Holbrook, and Jake Baxter, 28, of Randolph, were charged with assault and battery with a dangerous weapon (shod foot), assault and battery on a person over the age of 60, and witness intimidation.

"A not guilty plea was entered on their behalf.

"They were arraigned in Quincy District Court, where a judge set $1,500 bail for Jesse and $500 for Jake.

"Both men are expected to post bail and were ordered to stay away from the victim and #BrookvillePark.

"They will return to court for a dangerousness hearing at a later date.

"Both Jesse and Jake have been placed on paid administrative leave from the DPW.

"According to a Holbrook police report, officers responded to the area of Linwood Street overnight on June 20 for a report of an injured man knocking on residents' doors and yelling.

"Responding officers found the man covered in blood and bruises.

"According to the man, he was sleeping in his tent in the Brookville Park area around 12:30 a.m. when he was attacked by two men he didn't know." [Allegedly, they were there to attack a DIFFERENT homeless man that they had an argument with.]

"In its biggest decision on homelessness in decades, the U.S. Supreme Court today ruled that cities can ban people from sleeping and camping in public places. The justices, in a 6-3 decision along ideological lines, overturned lower court rulings that deemed it cruel and unusual under the Eighth Amendment to punish people for sleeping outside if they had nowhere else to go.

"Writing for the majority, Justice Gorsuch said, 'Homelessness is complex. Its causes are many.' But he said federal judges do not have any 'special competence' to decide how cities should deal with this.

" 'The Constitution’s Eighth Amendment serves many important functions, but it does not authorize federal judges to wrest those rights and responsibilities from the American people and in their place dictate this Nation’s homelessness policy,' he wrote.

"In a dissent, Justice Sotomayor said the decision focused only on the needs of cities but not the most vulnerable. She said sleep is a biological necessity, but this decision leaves a #homeless person with 'an impossible choice — either stay awake or be arrested.' "

NEW YORK (AP) — "Infections from the diarrhea-causing parasite #cyclospora are surging, with state-level data suggesting that 2026 is already the nation's worst year for reported cases.

"More than 30 states have reported infections this year, and current data from them shows the number of infections surpassing the record U.S. mark of about 4,700 set in 2019. The illness is not usually life threatening and is typically treated with antibiotics.

"Health officials have not yet definitively identified what is causing the infections. On Tuesday, federal health officials said there may be different infection patterns in different places, although they believe cases in at least four states — Michigan, #Ohio, #Kentucky and #WestVirginia — are linked.

Michigan officials blame lettuce

"In Michigan — where more than 3,300 cases have been reported — officials say early information points to lettuce or salad greens as a possible culprit.

"After conducting more than 1,000 interviews with patients, 'early information has shown lettuce as a common product that regularly comes up during the investigation,' said Natasha Bagdasarian, the Michigan health department's chief medical executive.

"Because of that commonality and because produce has been behind some past cyclospora outbreaks, Michigan officials advised consumers to buy whole heads of lettuce, discard the outer layers and thoroughly wash what is left. They also suggested people avoid bagged lettuce and pre-mixed salad kits."

"The arrest numbers, obtained from a person familiar with the information who spoke anonymously to discuss data that has not been publicly released, comes after the agency shifted its approach from high-profile arrest sweeps in major American cities to quieter ways to reach President Donald Trump’s deportation goals.

"The figures indicate that while the administration is no longer cracking down on individual cities, the arrests continue and are surging.

"The total number of arrests during the five-day period starting Friday and ending Tuesday translates into roughly 2,000 arrests per day. It was not clear where the arrests had taken place.

"The spike in arrests was first reported by The New York Times.

“Since Day One, DHS law enforcement has been delivering on President Trump’s promise to the American people to arrest and deport criminal illegal aliens including murderers, rapists, pedophiles [START WITH THE WHITE HOUSE!!!], gang members [#NeoNazis?], and terrorists [Blackwater?],” said the Department of Homeland Security in a statement. #Georgia family says they're forced to sell home to help power #AIDatacenters: "It's theft"

"Sell your home, or the state will take it — that's the ultimatum some homeowners in Georgia say they are facing amid the AI boom.

"Utility giant #GeorgiaPower is planning to build a new transmission line to in part help power new #datacenters. It estimates 70-80% of the power on the new line will help serve data centers and the remaining 20-30% of power will serve the state's growing residential and commercial demand.

"According to the company, increasing demand has outpaced the capacity of its existing grid and building a new transmission line requires acquiring more than 300 parcels of land, including residential properties.

"Ansley Brown's childhood home that she said was built when she was 5 or 6 years old is just one of the properties impacted.

" 'It's ours,' she told CBS News. 'It's our family. We belong here.'

"Her mother wanted the property to serve as 'true generational wealth,' Brown said, adding that now 'it's being stripped from us.'

"Brown's mother recently came to an agreement with Georgia Power to sell. If she didn't, Brown said the utility could have sought to acquire the property through #EminentDomain — which is a legal process that allows private property to be taken, with compensation, for projects determined to serve a public purpose.

" 'To us it's theft. It's literally a billion dollar company stealing land from smaller people, people who can't fight back. We don't have the money to fight Georgia Power,' Brown said.

"Holly Lovett, a spokesperson for Georgia Power, said eminent domain 'is always … a last resort for us and it's something we never want to do.'

"The company said it feels as if it's done the process responsibly, but Brown disagrees.

" 'You can't tear down 35 miles of rural Georgia and it not hurt something or somebody. And to say that you're doing it in the name of data centers is a slap in the face to us, our community, our animals,' she said.

"A few months ago Brown took her story to TikTok and began sharing stories of others in similar situations. She said that while she knows it's too late to save her home, she doesn't want to see this happen to others."

I am reminded of a clip I remember seeing of a cartoon(I don't remember which cartoon it was) where characters are talking about how they want to go back to a time when men had all of the power rather than just most of it. Mamdani also is not being fully ignored. Democrats are trying to repeat his successes by appointing center-left candidates like the rapist Graham Platner. They did this after Mamdani betrayed his wife & her comrades to try to get weaponized antisemitism accusations to go away, which didn't work but did prove him to be an opportunist who the smarter of the democrats are going to try to replicate. They know that all democrats are opportunists who can be co-opted, so they will continue to run progressive democrats. We will see AOC in 2028, she will either have her best policies blocked by a mix of Republicans & establishment Democrats, be Obama 2: Electric Boogaloo, or all of the above. They will only concede when the alternative is revolution, as it was in FDR's day. Work outside the system! Build bonds & break bondage! By build bonds I mean: 1. learn love, turn peers into comrades, 2. learn mutuality, if you have an ability your comrades don't, use it to help your comrades & if your comrades have an ability you don't, solicit help from your comrades, 3. learn unionism, unionize your workplace, do research on how to avoid getting caught or fired. Break bondage means: 1. unlearn bigotry, race is a scam to justify subordination, gender can serve you(mere costume) rather than you serving it("masculinity" causing violence, "femininity" causing weakness, neither serves the individual "man" or "woman"), children are younger adults & differ only quantitatively but not qualitatively, sex is a spectrum, 2.. unlearn law, you can do whatever you can get away with, it doesn't matter if a cat is black or white so long as it catches mice, 3. unlearn inferiority, you are not better or worse, you are merely unique & I love you for that alone. Down with the family, property & the state!
