Another thing Congress can do is re-assign judges. If a District Court becomes problematically political, looking at you 5th circuit, Congress can move judges to other courts. They can't cut their pay or fire them, but they can certainly spread them around to dilute their corrupting influence. One idea I've seen would have Congress create a federal court to hear final appeals of cases that don't originate at the Supreme Court. Section 2 clearly gives Congress that power. There is the most obvious solution, expanding the number of judges on the supreme court and the inferior courts. Frankly, those things need to be done even if a corrupt majority hadn't taken over the court. The federal docket has been overbooked for decades. Expand it to 15 districts and 15 Supreme Court Judges. Three panels of five with en banc provisions should help everyone. 7/11

The last sentence seems consequential. It gives Congress the ability to create exceptions and regulate the appeals that the supreme court would hear. So, with the ability to create additional federal courts and regulate much of what the Supreme court hears, plus the ability to re-assign judges, Congress does have some ability to act to reign in the Roberts court. 6/11

Then it lists two particular types of cases, one of diplomats in service of the US, ambassadors, consuls and such and second, cases where one of the States is a party to the action, that fall under the original jurisdiction of the supreme court. Section 2 lays it all out. There is a list of circumstances that would cause a matter to fall under the jurisdiction of the federal court system. Things include stuff that happens involving the US on the high seas, a particular crisis point of that era of colonialization. It includes things that are between citizens of two different states, so there is no home field advantage; reasonable type stuff and it's easy to see why. 3/11

In Article III, Section 1 establishes that there is one supreme federal court and other inferior courts that Congress creates. Judges in those courts have a job with no pay reductions for life, as long as they're well behaved. 2/11
