Many spiky purple sea urchins on inter-tidal rocks, some of them deep in holes they've bored into the rock, with a purple sea star also clinging to the rock on the left. The urchins are round, about fist-sized, with dozens of purple spikes emanating from the top of their shells. A variety of colorful seaweed is draped in places of the rock, mostly green.

I dont know how I managed to make it to this side of Stuðlagil canyon and back to the car park with my wonky, arthritic legs last year when there was no place to sit down a bit to give my legs a break along the way, but I did, and it was worth it.

Secondary veins branch outward and upward from the midrib at sharp angles, creating a distinct chevron or herringbone pattern. This rainbow formed in the spray of Upper Rainbow Falls of the San Joaquin River, at Devil's Postpile National Monument near Mammoth Lakes in California's Eastern Sierra. I loved the combination of all the textures and colors and the somewhat abstract quality that the combination of it all took on.
