A cool misty morning.
Thick fog and the quiet it brings.
The setting for our early morning beach adventure. Summer was not going to waste a minute.
She ran and ran.
I plodded along.
Summer might have eyes in the back of her head because if I stop she immediately runs back to make sure I'm ok. If I do have a hitch in my get along I won't be alone.

    I woke up to a Summer alarm shortly after daybreak. I promised a beach adventure this morning and a promise is a promise.
    She waited for me to brew a cup of coffee, brought me a hat, and we hit the road.
    It has been at least a week since our last beach adventure.
    Summer was excited.
    She wonders if she can let it all hang out.
    I laughed.
    We rolled the windows down and sang along with Joy to the World to set the mood.

                        Photinus pyralis, The Common Eastern #Firefly or locally known here as a “lightning bug”. These #bugs will start flashing around twilight in spring and #summer months in the eastern US. They certainly put on a show. Males will fly in a J-pattern while lighting their abdomens with light-activated proteins to attract females. Females who rest on bushes and trees nearby will flash back at them if interested in mating. I’m not sure if this one is a male or female since it was taken during the day but since it was a rather large one I’d guess female.

                              After dinner we play.
                              All of us together.
                              This is our opportunity to engage in a little loving mayhem. Treats are dispensed with creative and joyful ingenuity.
                              We started with some small jerky treats flying through the air with the greatest of ease. Summer plucks them, before they fall, while we cheer her for her skills.
                              She brings her pal a toy which he scoots around with his feet. Summer decides the tease is too much so she grabs the toy to toss out of the fray.
                              I happened to catch both items in the air.
                              I asked Summer how cool is that?
                              She gave me a look because the cool part was being part of the action.

                                                                Life is all about choices.
                                                                This morning Summer and I had to put our heads together and decide whether we should go one way or the other.
                                                                We were on the trail very early.
                                                                The wind was fierce.
                                                                I was concerned about getting sand in our eyes if we took the beach trail but the other option was very overgrown. In some places I wouldn't be able to see the ground under the chest high grass.
                                                                I do worry about taking a fall.
                                                                What to do?
                                                                The end of the overgrown trail is Summer's diving spot.
                                                                It has been awhile.
                                                                We decided to push forward to the swimming spot.
                                                                Summer had so much fun.
                                                                I waded through obstacles like a determined grandma.
                                                                It worked out.

Das Sommerbild ist minimalistisch gehalten und vermittelt eine ruhige, entspannte und friedliche Stimmung.
