                          Summer is a happy dog.
                          No doubt about it.
                          She brought us both hats this morning but there was drizzle and a cold wind so her pal decided to stay home and stay warm.
                          I bundled up and we were off.
                          Kids on the way to the first day of school waved to Summer and she wagged back.
                          The beach was foggy but fun.
                          Lots of running, fetching and digging happened.
                          By the time we started back the parking lot was full. Summer didn't mind the leash and refrained from barking at any of the people gathering to pick up trash.
                          A spectacular start to our day.
                          Summer says good morning, Mastodon.

                                                              Today was the day to clean up my lawn mower to be able to start it to mow Summer's front acre.
                                                              My mower is clearly worn out.
                                                              Summer thought it would help if she brought me stuff I might need to get it going.
                                                              More stuff is always better, right?
                                                              By the time I got the mower ready to mow I had a whole pile of random stuff.
                                                              She really is the most sincere helper I've ever seen.
                                                              It didn't help but I thanked her anyway.
                                                              Tomorrow my daughter is going with me to the farmers market and then to shop for a battery operated mower.
                                                              It's almost my birthday so it's time.
                                                              We will see if I can find something that I think is heavy duty enough to handle our fields.

                                                                    Warm muggy morning here on our northern California hillside.
                                                                    Summer convinced her pal to run down the hill with us for an easy walk. A moderate adventure.
                                                                    The accessible trail that he favors has reopened.
                                                                    Credit to Summer she took a slow steady pace and I didn't see any of the wild runnings on she is usually up to.
                                                                    She was very considerate of my husband's limitations and sat with him on every bench on the trail.
                                                                    With several strategic rest and hydration stops we managed a mile. I carried the backpack.
                                                                    Summer and her pal are proud of their accomplishment.
                                                                    So am I.

                                                                              Summer got so excited that we were going to the transfer station to leave a deposit of various items that aren't recyclable that she ran to get some cardboard to deposit at the same facility.

                                                                                      You never know what the new day will bring at our house.
                                                                                      I woke up really early so Summer and I were doing our outside morning security check in the dark.
                                                                                      We were hoping her pal would sleep in a bit.
                                                                                      At first light he peeked around the corner to announce that he was going to take Summer down the hill for an adventure.
                                                                                      I was like wait... what!
                                                                                      But they were feeling good and determined so I said let me get my boots on. I had just enough time to hop in the passenger seat before we were off.
                                                                                      I didn't figure on our little family heading out to the wilds in our jammies but stranger things have happened I'm pretty sure.
                                                                                      I wanted to be along just in case of who knows what.
                                                                                      Turned out just fine.
                                                                                      We didn't walk far.
                                                                                      Fun was had.
                                                                                      Everybody was happy.
                                                                                      I can't ask for more than that.

                                                                                          It was an overcast gray morning for our walk.
                                                                                          More of a slog than a walk but we parked on the south spit of Humboldt Bay and walked to the shoreline. We continued north toward the jetty until we were too tired and muddy to keep going. It was just as muddy walking back to the car.
                                                                                          The exercise was good for both of us.
                                                                                          The low tones from the buoys at the mouth of the bay, the chatter of the shore birds and our banter were the only noises.
                                                                                          It feels good to start our day outside.

                                                                                            Summer was raring to adventure this morning.
                                                                                            She said that she heard that the trail wouldn't be as muddy as it was yesterday so she probably wouldn't get as dirty.
                                                                                            I asked her where she heard that and she said somewhere.
                                                                                            Hmmmm
                                                                                            I reminded her that she can't believe everything she finds on the internet.
                                                                                            The only way to know for sure was to check it out in person.
                                                                                            So away we went.
                                                                                            It appears Summer was a victim of misinformation.
