          Thankfully my farmers market was open today, so I have a fresh supply of flower photos. These remind me of fireworks exploding, so they're good flowers for the Fourth of July.

          And here's hoping none of my neighbors sets off fireworks tonight, scaring Tennessee and risking setting off a fire (although it's been cool and damp here lately, so less risk).

          A bunch of dahlia blooms, with petals that are a combination of milky white and a dark vibrant pink. Their thin petals look like they're exploding out from the center.

              These pretty Bellflowers have self-seeded in the garden, in unexpected places.
              I guess I picked them up from a pile of discarded perennials in the bush (as I tend to do), and they may be an introduced species (Campanula persicifolia?), but I really like them.

Endemic to the Himalayas, including parts of Tibet, southwestern China, Myanmar, and Bhutan.They achieve that striking color through an internal pH balance within its petals that interacts with co-pigments, turning what would normally be a purple anthocyanin pigment into a vivid sky blue.

                        Yet more dahlias! I like how there's one with very different coloring nestled among the others.

                        Dahlia blooms with orange petals, and one that's a bright yellow with bright red tips. And the, nestled among them, at the center of the photo, is one with buttery yellow petals that have a different shape than the others, too. (The other petals are thin and pointed, these are more rounded.) It's quite the contrast!

                                      Something pretty to start the day. I leave shortly to get to a 7:30 am MRI for the Alzheimer’s research study I’m in. Only 1 cup of coffee before I go, banana and granola bar. Whoosh! Here’s some canna flowers I saw at TJ a week or so ago. Ooooh!

                                      About 2 dozen potted canna lillies in pots for sale. They have all be forced for early blooming to show the colors of the flowers. Foreground are vivid orange flowers, with violet, maroon, yellow and white flowers around and back of it. They are all vivid colors.

These give the appearance of having a bright yellow background over which has been spread a coral pink, resulting in each flower subtly showing all the shades between those two. It results in a sunny blush that is very cheerful to see.

                                                                  I feel like I should be offering these top performers some kind of reward like maybe stocks or profit sharing. Sadly all I have for them is water and once in a while some plant food.

In each bucket is a different plant that's flowering profusely, all in shades of pink, blue, orange, yellow and white. in the foreground is an overflowing hanging basket full of calibrachoas like little petunia flowers, mixed in bright yellow, purple and pink blooming so profusely that the basket looks like a globe of flowers. On the porch a couple clay pots are visible with bigger flowers, in shades of peach and another that's deep pink. The whole scene is an eyeful of color.

                                                                          One of the wildflowers of southwest Colorado that I look forward to every year, the stunning colors, wiry leaves, intricate stamens, and fuzzy details of Scarlet Globemallow are pretty incredible if you look closely.

                                                                              I don’t have very many bee photos and I think they’re mostly of carpenter bees rather than bumblebees, but I hope this still counts.
