              Some authors don't live with cats. I don't understand this, but to each their own. The problem arises when they put cats in their story only because their target audience likes cats, but with little experience, they don't know how to write them. Magic and vampires are one thing. A cat that isn't freaked out after sudden, violent, vampire chaos breaks immersion. They're living beings, not just fur-niture.

                Weekly Update #247

                Hello Readers.

                I’m starting my third week of not smoking and the patches are holding up well. I do have the occasional urge to smoke, but a hard candy is helping with that.

                Just before starting this update, I took a quick walk around my neighborhood and came across this:

                Isn’t it just cute! Makes me feel good every time I see one in an unexpected place.

                During this past week, I made some good progress towards “Death and a Dog.” I’m about two-thirds done with it so hopefully, I’ll have the draft done this coming week.

                The last couple days I’ve spent working on some templates for some new marketing for my books. Now with the first major template done, I should be able to start updating my marketing pics.

                                                                  Just caught up on the Winter 2024 edition of Fantasy & Science Fiction. A mixed bag, with some excellent stories and poems. 'Do Not Haste To Bid Me Adieu' by Will McMahon is a truly moving tale of the New Deal in the USA, the Spanish Civil War, and a succession crisis in an interstellar empire, all in 12 pages. 'Vanishing Act' by Avra Margariti is a disturbing but also moving poem about binary star systems and teratomas (I kid you not!)
