          She looks so innocent.
          Don't let her fool you.
          She is an instigator.
          For sure.
          Her pal called her on the phone. She could hear his voice and came running from the other side of the house. It's good that one of us can hear a pin drop a mile away.
          She and her pal hatched a plan.
          They miss each other.
          He will ask to sit outside his room for a bit tomorrow after breakfast. Summer might be taking a walk in the same neighborhood.
          It would be pretty sweet if they connected.
          Little do they know that I already got permission from his doctor. Keeping that tidbit of information to myself.
          It sounds like all treatment plans for my husband are on hold until he is infection free. The soonest he can transfer to another hospital or come home will be sometime next week.

                  Yesterday a box arrived in the mail for Summer.
                  It was full of her favorite kibble, a few treats and a new throwing disc. We finally got the box opened this morning.
                  She was so happy to play with something new.
                  Lots of throwing and fetching happened so good exercise was accomplished.
                  We are starting our day out in a joyful way.
                  Summer is feeling like her happy self.

                            Summer isn't sure how to manage without her pal. She was up every two hours last night.
                            By five am she was done trying to sleep.
                            A trip to the beach seemed like a good distraction so we hopped in the truck and hoped we had enough gas to get us there and back.
                            We did.
                            She is stressed so she puked all over our backpack and my jacket.
                            Oh well. It will all wash.
                            One she got to playing in the sand she was pretty happy.
                            We came home just in time to take a call from Stanford. Our doctor there has figured out what is wrong and how to fix it. Next is figuring out if a doctor here can handle the repair or if they fly him south. Finally more answers than questions.
                            Breakfast time for Summer before the dog sitter arrives and I'm off to the hospital.

                                                Summer put her pal down for a nap while I process peaches for the freezer. I had big plans for jam and pies but freezing them for later works too.

                                                  We are all feeling out of sync.
                                                  Summer and I were up with her pal at three in the morning and were wide awake when he drifted back to dreamland.
                                                  Seemed like a good time to brew coffee and plan our day.
                                                  We agreed to trade off being in charge of her pal's care team.
                                                  I was at the hospital all day yesterday so she offered to cover today.
                                                  I will work on logistics and she can be comforter in chief.
                                                  Lots of phone calls to make coordinating the sharing of information between medical providers. Not to mention mountains of laundry. As much as I don't like disposable stuff I might have to bend a little. Here and there for now.
                                                  Summer is on her game and getting things done in the comforting arena. She is such a good girl.

                                                                  The landscaped area close in to the house always seems to peak around mid-July. This was primarily a laurel hedge when we moved here, but after a lot of work I think this is much nicer. The pollinators seems to agree.

                                                                    A soft blue evening sky with lines of fair weather clouds and some haze along and near the horizon. The sun is a bright golden yellow blob starting to descend towards that horizon. From a fissured gray rock outcrop atop a mountain, we are looking out at a scene of mostly forest with a couple of clusters of buildings. A few tufts of tall grass grow through a few of the fissures in the rock. A forest of cedar and hardwoods rings the edge of the outcrop, but does not block the views. The flank of a nearby peak facing us has impressive rock cliffs. Beyond that is a narrow valley and several long, flattish-topped wooded ridges running along the horizon. A rounded knob to our left has a cluster of larger buildings on top.

                                                                    Alt...A soft blue evening sky with lines of fair weather clouds and some haze along and near the horizon. The sun is a bright golden yellow blob starting to descend towards that horizon. From a fissured gray rock outcrop atop a mountain, we are looking out at a scene of mostly forest with a couple of clusters of buildings. A few tufts of tall grass grow through a few of the fissures in the rock. A forest of cedar and hardwoods rings the edge of the outcrop, but does not block the views.                                                                         Summer's high ground perch got mowed today.
                                                                        Mowing uphill is not my favorite.
                                                                        I started with the uphill battle and saved the flat for last. Good thing because I was relieved to just walk back and forth for the last half hour.
                                                                        Tomorrow I will mow along the road and be done for now.
                                                                        My husband tried again to talk me into using the riding lawnmower but I get nervous on the slope. I've never been good at leaning this way and that to keep from tipping over. So I would rather push. If nothing else I got some good exercise.
                                                                        Tomorrow morning the grandkids will take my car home to deliver to the body shop on Monday. I might be a couple of weeks without it.
                                                                        It feels like a good time to get important repairs done.

                                                                          This afternoon, I temporarily removed the chicken-wire anti-rabbit fence. The weeds had grown as tall as the fence (24” / 50cm). Cleanup completed! I re-installed the fence after taking the photo.

                                                                          A garden full of large growing plants and mulch in the walkways. Also some buckets for watering, now that it hasn’t rained for 3 weeks. Flowers left to right: yellow marigolds, a clump with zinnias and orange marigolds, cream-colored marigolds (in the distance), and a large “bush” of orange-red Mexican Sunflowers (Tithonia).

                                                                            I took Summer out to inspect her property early this morning. She walks the line and looks for any sign of incursions.
                                                                            Thankfully our MAGA neighbors are staying on their side of the fence. Summer has zero tolerance for intolerance so she keeps an eye on them.
                                                                            She is a good girl.
                                                                            Since we are staying home again this morning we thought that some spirited Frisbee chasing would wake us up.
                                                                            My husband's health continues to improve, with no fever, but he is weak and needing the encouragement that Summer and I are enthusiastically dishing out.
                                                                            We are on encouragement overdrive on this Saturday morning.
