                                White mountain marsh-marigold (Caltha leptosepala) photographed on a rainy day near Tahsis a few years ago.                                         I hope I don't get lectured about my use of the word "prickly" in this toot. When I tooted a photo of a Phacelia neomexicana (New Mexico scorpion-weed) a couple of days ago, I had a person totally go off on me for using the word "scorpion" and for warning people in the toot that contact with the plant can cause a "skin rash." 🙄

                                                    While out on fieldwork in Cambridgeshire, England, I discovered the rare Yellow Loosestrife bee (Macropis europaea). This is quite an interesting little bee as the females only collect pollen from Yellow Loosestrife (Lysimachia vulgaris) as food for their larvae so the bees only occur where this plants grows (which is mainly wet and boggy places). The bees nest in the ground and are also using the oil from the flowers to make their nests water-proof. Quite ingenious!

                                                                      My latest piece: “Anmyeon Lotus.” Inspired by my birthday trip to Anmyeondo Island in Taean County, South Korea. Most folks like lotuses in full bloom but this is my favorite stage, right when they’re about to open, so full of potential, preparing to put on a show of unmatchable beauty and fragrance.

                                                                      While out there with the Hubby in the 31°C heat and 95% humidity, among the chirps of pond frogs and reed warblers, we enjoyed enticing dragonflies to perch on our fingers between snapshots of the flowers.

                                                                      This painting is available as a downloadable print at my store, where I permanently lowered the prices on everything. I really had a great time painting it. Lotuses fill me with hope and peace.
