      In early 2023, I took 2 cuttings from a rose plant at Jubilee Hospital gardens. I propagated the cuttings in our front yard. I grew them for my parents. Dad passed away before any of the cuttings propagated had matured enough to bloom. This year, it's blooming a lot. This is one of the roses from that propagation.

                    How nice to return to my farmers market today and see that dahlia season has begun!

                                            A cluster of bright yellow flowers on the tip of a slim green stem. Each flower is bright yellow and its petals curl slightly backwards at the ends like a flared trumpet shape. The stem has numerous slim branches that look a bit like spines but are where the seed pods will develop.

The open flowers sort of point downward rather than upward and have a bell-shaped, lily-like appearance with multiple overlapping petals spreading and curling open to reveal the center pistil and stamens.

                                                      When I worked at a nature sanctuary, we had lots of Pink Lady Slippers.

                                                      Unfortunately, people would steal them, (presumably) to transplant them in their own yards.

                                                      It isn’t that easy. Lady Slippers depend on a symbiotic relationship with fungi. More often than not, digging them up is a death sentence.

                                                      We tried to educate people not to take them. When that didn’t work we put up “Keep Out - Poison Ivy!” signs on the edges of where they grew.

                                                      That worked pretty well.

                                                      A fairly stout plant, about 7 inches high with leaves spanning out about 10 inches is growing by itself in the woods. There are no other green plants within 50 yards growing in the vicinity. The sturdy stalk bends as it reaches its peak. Dangling from the peak is a pink, veiny looking bulbous sac that is the flower.

                                                            Me, not so much. It's a six -aid day ~ details aren't necessary, but know that one of them is because of my stupid fingernail. 🩸 🩹 🩹 🩹 🩹 🩹 🩹

                                                            My finger didn't get much worse, but the same hand is showing the effects from the crash (pic). Honestly, it only looks so bad because of the blood thinners ~ it doesn't hurt.

                                                            There is a mysterious scratch on my left eyelid. (pic) Not a clue. 👁️

                                                            I should have invested in stock. Been blowing my nose ALL morning. (I buy 10 boxes at a time (pic)... the 180 count ones 😳 ) It's annoying.

                                                            Proofreading and beta reading a novel for a friend. Never noticed there were no page numbers printed on each page. The stack is on my desk ... a chance meeting with the handle of a broom knocked the whole thing off the desk. 😭

                                                            But, I do having icing on a non-existent cake! My cleaning lady brought me a vase of from her garden! They smell divine! 🥰 💐 😥

                                                                Late Spring, being what it is, continues to provide ample opportunity to indulge my pension for snapping pics of blooming around the garden - in pots and in the ground. I just can’t resist capturing the beauty; I just wish you could smell the Wallflowers, the Mock Orange and the old-school roses. Regrettably our beautiful Hydrangea has no aroma, but what it lacks for in smell, it surely makes up for in the shear splendor of the blooms.
