        Setagaya Park. Vienna's 19th district, Döbling, is the sister district of Setagaya in Tokyo. We were gifted this lovely park. It's like stepping into a different world. The noise caused by the traffic fades away, all you hear are wind, water and birdsong. There's a retirement home right next to the park, and the residents often come here for a walk.

        The lake and one of the bridges - I call it the "small bridge" because it has a smaller/shorter railing than the other wooden bridge - seen from the Tea House. There are water lilies and koi in the lake, and on the shore to the right, you can see a stone lantern. A group of red-eared sliders also live here - they were dumped some 20–30 years ago, and have made this park their home. They are pretty, but beware - they bite.

                                          I took some young family members for their first river hike today. Along the way, we spotted this massive snapping turtle sunning itself on a log. We all stopped and stood in awe of its size. The entire hike was a lot of fun, filled with discovery, but I’m afraid that this hike set the “bar” quite high— the children might expect to see this turtle every time now! 😀🐢
