      We just love Summer to pieces.
      Even when she doesn't want to share her toy cow with us.
      Everytime I tried to sneak up on her I got a look. She has so many expressions.

                Right now our lives are quiet in a good way.
                We have gotten all encouraging information from every one of our medical providers and we are celebrating in our own special way.
                Next week will be a drive to San Francisco for a minor surgery for my husband but we will cross that bridge next week.
                Today Summer is keeping me company while I process fresh food for the freezer because we don't let anything spoil. Trays of sweet cherries, apricots and avocado will be shared with family later.
                Getting ready to bake blueberry cobbler and a dinner casserole for the grandkids.
                I know we don't lead exciting lives.
                Summer says chill is good.
                I trust that Summer knows these things.

                          All three of us are creatures of habit. We like routine.
                          The last week has been less than routine.
                          Today I am making a concerted effort to get us back on track.
                          At the crack of dawn I was brewing coffee and getting my husband settled in his chair while Summer and I skip down the hill for a quick adventure.
                          The sky is overcast, the mosquitoes are pouncing but we are happy to be outside together.
                          We found our way to the ocean to play in the sand and marvel at how lucky we are to be here in this moment.
                          We will make it home for the next video doctor appointment with time to spare.
                          Things are going as planned.

                              The first test image from my new (to me) Canon EOS 90D DSLR camera that I bought off eBay. My venerable Rebel T3i had gotten a bit glitchy, so I decided to spring for the high-level end-of-the-line DSLR instead of trying to leap into the mirrorless world. I think I’m going to like it, once I figure out a few more of the many, many options.

                                                      It seems I'm the one to get the bad news today.
                                                      My cholesterol went up to 241 instead of down and my A1C was just barely into the prediabetes level. At least it wasn't the 300 number it was six months ago. I see my doctor tomorrow. I don't understand why but it is what it is.
                                                      When my husband got home from his appointment he wanted to cheer me up and go for a walk. The doctor asked him to try walking short distances. We drove to our regular trail but didn't go all the way to the beach.
                                                      A beautiful day for a walk.
                                                      So says Summer.

                                                        Summer didn't get to go along for her pal's consultation with his doctor. I stayed home with her but was able to participate via video.
                                                        They think Summer is taking very good care of her pal and that he is exceeding all expectations.
                                                        We were reminded that we've managed to stay out of the emergency room for all of 2026.
                                                        His doctor gave him permission to drink one Orange Crush soda a day when he asked.
                                                        Summer says woo hoo to no new meds and extra treats for her pal.
                                                        Still have the cardiologist, infectious disease and oncologist appointments to get through in the next ten days but we are off to a great start.

                                                                After an afternoon of medical maneuvers for my husband Summer and I decided to take a break for a minute.
                                                                I had already put our outside chairs inside and closed the garage. We crawled into the back of my car where I could read my book for a minute while we soaked up some fresh air.

                                                                      Couldn't make it to the trail this morning.
                                                                      We had one of those nights with lots of awake happening.
                                                                      Summer understands that today is a stay home day and she is going into full cuddle lovey dovey mode being a comfort to her pal. Summer's dedication really frees me to get all of the other important stuff done around here. I know that my husband is literally never alone. Even from the next room I can hear them and you can't miss the sincere devotion in my husband's voice. I'm sure Summer soaks up all of that love. It is mutual.
                                                                      They are peas in a pod.
                                                                      They like to hang out on the sofa to heckle me while I make the coffee and take their breakfast orders.

When meeting new people I immediately know if I want to talk to them or not. I just know and have learned to listen to my instincts. Sometimes I am trying so hard to not say something inappropriate I fail to say anything at all. It's hard.
                                                                        Lucky for me Summer's communication skills are top notch and she doesn't mind helping me out by being our voice. She likes some people more than others too but mostly she wants to love everyone. We have that in common.
                                                                        So when Summer toots it's really for both of us.
                                                                        Today she wants to tell people to have a happy day. She tried to get the message out earlier but I forgot to toot this photo.

                                                                          Breakfast is served.
                                                                          It's laundry time!
                                                                          Not everyone gets excited about laundry but Summer isn't everyone.
                                                                          She loves, loves sorting and transporting.
                                                                          She is particularly fond of moving washcloths and socks from the upstairs laundry baskets to the downstairs laundry room.
                                                                          She considers herself an expert at this maneuver.
                                                                          I would have to agree.
