Fluidity of Stone
I assume it is an ancient petrified lava flow. Maybe partially lava flow, partially normal rocks, which were in the way. Maybe something totally different. But it does look like stone flowing down.

Shocker:
THISTLE CAUGHT CATAPULTING BUMBLEBEE MID FORAGE….
Bee was okay after the event but did admit to being a bit shook by the ordeal…
When asked for a comment the thistle replied:
‘Go fuck yourself…it’s too hot here now…the wee bee had it coming…’
in a broad Scottish accent.
Thistles…vital and hard-assed!
Leave them be…and never annoy them!
Rice paddy pic No. 78.
Taken last Thursday when I thought the end of the rainy season was imminent and the farmer had decided to drain the paddies.
Because we all need something cute in our daily lives, here's a black-tailed deer fawn in a patch of wildflowers. Photographed last week during a tour.

On this multi-day backpacking trip we had maybe 6hrs of sunlight over a full week as the late summer storms hit us every day. This was one of the fleeting moments of brilliant light that pierced through the rain clouds. An absolutely breathtaking moment.

Here’s a “bonus” pic from after yesterday’s paddle. Beginning the walk up the road to the parking lot where my car is parked. The smile is genuine— just finished a nice time on the water. Also enjoying the benefits of my exercise routine— as part of my exercises at home, I do “canoe squats” (squats with the canoe on my shoulders) to keep me in shape for portaging the canoe. #canoe
NEWLY PUBLISHED BOOK TO READ
My latest book - THE WILD - takes the view that "anarchy", often extrapolated in and through the historical, socially-derived politics of anarchism, should instead be characterized on a naturalistic and queer basis as "the wild" (in much the same way as Kropotkin observed nature and came up with the principle of "mutual aid" in fact).
Through thirteen chapters this idea is then teased out, explained and extrapolated as something both ethical and political that is contrary to patriarchal, capitalist, industrial and technological human civilization as it has developed.
As such, this book is both a call to the wild (and to the truth and reality of the wild) and to the assertion that in feralness there is an authenticity of the mutual co-existence of all things to be found.
The book can be downloaded FOR FREE from the link below in multiple formats or read online. It can also be read to you via text to speech on that page.

#Biophilia and the need to fill our cities with #nature.
via @owgf.org , July 26, 2025
"Bringing nature back
"Our aim should be to restore as much nature as possible to both our cities and the countryside. We need to look at the quickest and easiest ways to do this and get started on those first. For me, the absolute simplest way is by removing a modest 10% of on-street parking and replacing it with native trees and plants. This would absolutely transform our cities. Streets are one of the most important parts of our cities and should be part of our commons that we all have the right to change—within reason and with full consultation."

#Florida #WildlifeCorridor linking #StateParks would thwart #development
#LoxaLucie Headwaters Initiative aims to buy #HobeSound land for conservation.
by Timothy O'Hara, Jan. 2, 2026
"At a time when development pressure is pushing north into rural Martin County, conservation groups want to protect a wildlife corridor between two state parks in Hobe Sound.
"The Loxa-Lucie Headwaters Initiative was founded to protect the ecologically important corridor between #AtlanticRidgePreserve State Park and #JonathanDickinson State Park and connect the #LoxahatcheeRiver and #SaintLucie rivers. That would create a preserve for #NativePlants and #wildlife species that would span about 70,000 acres.
"The public owns #Hapatiokee and #PalMar regional parks, but there are thousands of acres of privately owned land in natural conditions that are ripe for development, said Guardians of Martin County Executive Director Greg Braun, whose group is part of the initiative.
" 'If they can connect the 2,100-mile Appalachian Trail from Maine to Georgia, we should be able to connect Jonathan Dickinson State Park to Atlantic Ridge Preserve State Park,' Braun told TCPalm."

#SacramentoValley #Conservancy secures 265 acres to help build massive #WildlifeCorridor
By James Taylor, CBS13 Photojournalist
November 18, 2025
"Eastern Sacramento County's rolling hills and grasslands are home to dozens of #wildlife species, but more and more, their habitat is under threat by urban development.
"Roughly 265 acres of green rolling hills in the area are the newest piece of property being set aside as part of a new multi-million-dollar effort to protect the land and its wildlife.
"Steve Schweigerdt is with the Sacramento Valley Conservancy, a nonprofit trust that preserves land for conservation. The organization is using $2.7 million in state and federal grants to purchase an easement on the property known as the '#TudeskoRanch, which covers 265 acres and is currently used for cattle grazing.
" 'We're super excited about it because it's a large property that's right on the edge of the urban growth boundary,' Schweigerdt said.
"This newest land acquisition is part of a plan to create a 10,000-acre natural habitat corridor that runs from #Folsom to #RanchoMurieta and includes the #Cosumnes and #DeerCreek watersheds.
" 'A lot of animals are migrating up and down to adapt to the different food sources that are occurring at different elevations,' Schweigerdt said.
"Schweigerdt said the area is 'mostly open valley grassland' that features vernal pools and is an important habitat for birds.
"Eastern Sacramento County is seeing rapid growth in areas that had previously been open space, with thousands of new homes being built near Folsom, Rancho Cordova and El Dorado Hills.
" 'The grant source is set up so that farmers and ranchers can access this money, and they don't have to sell out to developers or other projects that are going to destroy their land,' Schweigerdt said."
