Summer started pestering me early.
She was ready to go to work.
Sunshine is wasting.
Time to get a move on.
By the time she got to her argument that we were lollygagging the day away I took a last swig of coffee and went to get some gloves and a rake.
Summer is right that the greenwaste wasn't going to load itself into the truck.
About half way through the job she decides it's break time. As a card carrying member of the powerful Very Good Dog Union she says a treat and drink of cool water is in order.
Who can argue with that?
I think I need to find out if there is a grandma union out there somewhere.

Summer and I started clearing all the weeds, ferns and berry bushes out from under our deck. I needed to get it done before it all dried out and decided to be a fire hazard.
Not much room to crawl around. Summer helped by dragging some of the bigger plants out for me. A couple of times she helped me find tools that got covered up. She is my best helper.
Her pal came outside to survey our progress and take our picture.
Summer only wanted to lick my face.
I am tired but feeling like we accomplished something important.
Next is laundry. Summer says not as much fun.
She's right.

I have told my kids and grandkids all their lives that life is like a roller coaster.
Up and down and back up again.
When it's fun you throw your hands in the air and make happy noises. When it's not fun you grab the rail and hang on because it will come out better on the other side. Sometimes we just chug around the track quietly in between the fun or not fun parts.
Our lives have been on the twisty, turny level 4 roller coaster with a side of cancer, evil politicians and pandemics for years now.
We have also had a side of love, endurance, the sweetest dog in these parts and family who would do anything for us.
Just plain luck too.
Today Summer is giving her pal a ride by squeezing herself under his legs while he sits. She lifts his feet off the floor and makes him laugh out loud. A roller coaster ride on the sofa.
An E ticket.
That's what keeps me going.
Waiting to throw my hands up and scream again.
Right around the corner.

Her pal is struggling to adjust to a medication change.
We each managed about 4 hours of sleep last night.

I said sure. There is a small store just down the hill.
We will eat healthy tomorrow.

I fill her water bottle and load the backpack. We have our routine.
This was a very quiet morning for a walk. Not even very many bird noises.
I was super surprised that Summer scared up a grouse. I've never seen one on this trail before.
We both got good exercise.
